Travel Payments

Members will recall that the Local disputed Wellington District management’s stance on travel payments when members undertake travel at station other than their own, especially when that station is closer to their residence.

The Local can now confirm that its stance was entirely correct and District management have conceded that all those payments withheld from members will be paid.

Therefore, any member who had travel payments withheld should contact DCFO Dunphy in the first instance if they have not yet received payment. Members who experience any further difficulties should contact their Local reps in the first instance.

Directed Transfers

Members are advised that there is a process for disputing directed transfers, whether they be for FF or Officer ranks. The Collective Agreement contains the HR Policy 2.14 Transfers, Notification of Vacancies and Appointment Policy. 5.6.3 in the Collective Agreement.

Members are asked to contact their Local Reps should they feel their transfer does not meet the requirements of this policy.

Sick Leave

The Local has been made aware that CFO Wellington District has been telephoning or meeting with members when they have taken their contractual sick leave entitlements.

Some members have expressed concern that they are feeling intimidated by this action and may in fact turn up to work sick, when they should be on sick leave. This is an unenviable situation to be in.

Members are advised that if they are called to a meeting by the CFO regarding sick leave usage, they are to take a Local Representative with them.

If any member feels they have been intimidated by the CFO then they should contact their Local Representative immediately.
