The Union has today written to Area Manager Kerry Gregory setting out our position over appointments in the South Auckland area (letter attached).

The Union has been made aware that AAM Twomey is to take up a position outside of the South Auckland area involved in dealing specifically with Rugby World Cup activities.

The previous appointment in an acting up capacity was made from within the South Auckland area.

The Union’s view is that such appointments, especially if they are intended to be for a reasonable length of time, must be open for all members to apply for.

The Union is currently pursuing a further matter related to other opportunities for staff to work within the Rugby World Cup planning and event management process. Members will be informed of the Union’s position in this regard.
