The Union is aware that FRM Butt has issued a Region Notice in which he calls for registration of interest in two secondment positions to Acting Deputy Chief Fire Officer.

It is disappointing to the Auckland Local that the Fire Region Manager continues to mislead members by stating “that on no occasion in the 5 months of the financial year to date have we failed to meet MSM in terms of officers riding in charge of appliances”.

The Local has knowledge of a number of occasions in the last 5 months when this is just not true, and the Auckland Region has had to resort to Senior Firefighters riding in charge, particularly in the case of special appliances, as the FRM’s decision not to allow Black Watch courses for aerial appliance operators has delayed the training of a suitable number of qualified members able to fill these positions.

Members should be aware that the Auckland Local is absolutely opposed to members carrying out those duties under the present circumstances and instructs that no member should apply for the vacancies.
