Occupational cancer campaign ramps up with Alex Forrest back in town

International expert/firefighter/lawyer and Winnipeg Firefighters’ Union President Alex Forrest has generously made time for a second trip to push for presumptive legislation to recognise firefighters’ occupational cancer.

Alex is in Wellington this week only and will be busy with a series of meetings with MPs from across the political spectrum and tomorrow night he is the keynote speaker at a Function at Parliament. These are the meetings and events we had planned for his visit in March but which were postponed due to the tragic Christchurch shootings.

On Thursday we will have fire appliances and firefighters on the steps of Parliament to make a public plea for presumptive legislation.

  • All off-duty firefighters within the Wellington region (and further if you can make it) are requested to make every effort to attend.
  • Meet at Parliament steps by 12.30pm on Thursday 23 May 2019
  • Please wear PPE jackets or station wear.

In unity,
Wattie Watson
National Secretary
