Seasons greetings for Christmas and the New Year

The NZPFU National Committee wishes all our members and their families a happy and safe Christmas and New Year.

We appreciate the personal sacrifices our members and their families make throughout the year.  We also acknowledge those will be on shift (at the comms centres and on station, or restricted by an on-call roster), and unable to join their families or fully join the festivities this Christmas.   It is particularly poignant when our members miss out on their children’s excitement of seeing what surprises are stashed under the Christmas tree.    We hope that you all get some time over the next few weeks to relax and create special memories with family and friends.

On behalf of the membership I thank the National Council and Committee for their commitment to the union and the protection of the interests of our members.  The incredible number of hours you spend over and above your usual working hours may not be visible to all, but is certainly appreciated.   We are so fortunate to have such a dedicated and experienced team leading the union.  With your leadership we have a strong and united union ready to protect our member’s interests and face the challenges ahead.

We also thank our staff who support our representatives.  Our staff Anne (in Auckland) and Bonnie (in Wellington) will be taking a well-deserved break with the offices closed until 5 January 2021.  National and local representatives will be available throughout for urgent issues.   Please first send a text and the appropriate person will respond to assist.

Merry Christmas!

In unity,
Wattie Watson
National Secretary
