Recently, Fire and Emergency New Zealand has asked some NZPFU members to engage in a survey on a potential redevelopment of the Uniform Matrix.

This has been done without any consultation with the NZPFU, and I have responded by lodging a dispute under the CEA.

It's unfortunate that, after a robust and comprehensive process for the trialling and selection of Structural Firefighting boots and helmets, FENZ has decided to fall back on their old behaviours of excluding the NZPFU from important decisions around our uniform and PPE.

I am advising anyone, who has been contacted by FENZ, asking them to engage in a survey relating to the Uniform Matrix to not fill in the survey, and delete the email/s.

The purpose of the survey is to determine whether the Uniform Matrix is set at the right level. While I'm not opposed to having this kōrero, the right process needs to be followed to ensure that the outcomes meet the needs of NZPFU members.

I will be in contact in the near future with an update on what further actions we will be taking.
