BE WARY OF FENZ-PROMOTED SURVEYS

The NZPFU has been notified of recent “urgent” requests for participation in surveys by FENZ.

The NZPFU notifies members that it is not in their interests to participate in any survey where the NZPFU has not had the necessary information or involvement to clarify the purpose and scope of the survey, veracity of the methodology including selection of participants and how data will be analysed, or protections of confidential information/anonymity including who has access to the data/information and how it will be stored and used.

Scarlatti survey into complaint system

We understand that FENZ has contracted an external company Scarlatti to provide an evaluation report on “culture outcomes” including the complaints management system.

On the 5th March we were provided with a paper on Scarlatti’s “culture journey” evaluation process which was designed, approved and underway without any involvement of the NZPFU.

Last week the NZPFU was invited to a meeting scheduled for the 26th March “to go through the external evaluation report on the complaints management system”.

The NZPFU notifies members that it is not in their interests to participate in this survey, or any other survey where the NZPFU has not endorsed the purpose and scope of the survey, veracity of the methodology including any analysis, had not had any input into the questions asked or process for selection of participations, and where we cannot verify protections of confidential information/anonymity including who has access to the information, how it will be stored and used.

The NZPFU has filed cases in the Employment Relations Authority regarding the unilaterally imposed Code of Conduct and complaints process which would be relevant to any FENZ-driven evaluation of the “culture”.  We believe that in the circumstances this survey is likely to be sham to produce the results that FENZ wants.

Health, safety and psychological wellbeing

The only survey the NZPFU endorses participation in is the Whanaungatanga Survey which has been undertaken by AUT and has approved methodology and ethics.  If you are invited to participate in any other survey regarding safety, health and wellbeing then please contact the Union.

In unity,
Wattie Watson
National Secretary
